The Gold Digger Gambit...a story that's not quite what it seems.

When I started to write the Gold Digger Gambit, I thought I knew what I was doing. I wanted to write a steamy story, and I knew it would feature another of the Honeytrap Inc agency operatives - this time Marco Vitale. I'd been thinking about Marco since writing the Fiancé Trap - I knew his backstory and his triggers, and felt confident I could write a story to do him justice.

I thought for one mad moment, it might be easy. Boy, was I wrong.

It's not easy to write a story about a 25 year old who marries a octogenarian. Especially when she hasn't known him very long. I had to write carefully to make sure I kept her sympathetic, a character that the readers could like, even under the most difficult of circumstances.

Add a list of secondary characters, all of whom developed complicated reasons for wanting Kristie's husband, Montgomery, dead, and the story took on a life of its own. I sometimes wish I were the sort of writer who could decide on a story and write it without veering off from the plan, but I'm not. Characters take over, shiny new plot twists appeared after a good night's sleep, and before I knew it I was wrangling a beast of a story. It took a lot of entangling to tame it, and thread through a realistic steamy romance between Marco and Kristie, but the results were worth it.

There's been a great response - I've done my job, because my readers have reached out to let me know that they've loved it. A recent glitch at Amazon has meant it disappeared from sale in kindle version for a week, which has impacted it's visibility, but I'm about to put all my books back into Kindle Unlimited after a foray into wide, because much as I love the idea of the books being available to everyone, the hard fact is that it's difficult for an indie author to gain visibility in the store without being exclusive.

So if you fancy a fun, sexy, read, where everything isn't quite as it seems, do check it out, read the reviews - download a sample and see if it's your sort of read!
